About Us:
How it started:
Our recipes started towards America in 1913. My Great
Grandparents, Paul and Mary lived only 3 miles apart, but never met in the old country. Each started their
own journey to America while very young at the ages 16 and 12. Alone! After passing through Ellis Island, they both worked briefly in New York to pay for
rail passage as far as it would take them, and that was Johnstown, PA. That's
where they met!
Paul worked in the steel mills, and Mary as a maid in a
boarding house where he lived. Long story short...they are my Great
Grandparents. Seems like they hit it off! Don’t you think? The recipes were here in
America after countless generations in the old country, and have been
meticulously passed down from their generation to ours. Now we want to share
them with you. We hope you enjoy them as much as we have!
What about the recipes, you ask? Well, you don’t get to meet
them, but you do get to eat them!
How it's going:
Start small, dream big! As with starting any business, the key is not to over-extend and doom yourself from the start. Like our Great Grandparents, we decided to start the journey within our means, and work towards our goal of the larger truck or trailer set up. A full-service concession cart was the answer! We've nicknamed ours Frank-n-Swine's Lab!
With all the
amenities
of the larger units our portable kitchen is equipped with hot and cold running water and a fully licensed and inspected water storage and disposal system. For food storage we are equipped with a fridge/freezer, and dry good storage. Now to the best part, the cooking! Just like the larger counterparts, we are equipped with a grill, griddle, warmers/boilers, and yes even a fryer!
To protect the lab from the elements it makes its journeys to events in an enclosed trailer, to which we also gave a catchy nickname...Ride of Frank-n-Swine! We're all about the nicknames. Look for the Purple Pig and let's get the lab to your event today!
Dare to be DIFFERENT!
The pig may be purple, but we strive to be as green as possible.
We’re like the Invisible Man…to your EARS! No need to
worry about a noisy generator impacting the experience for your customers, nearby businesses, or
neighbors. We are powered by a state-of-the-art battery storage system
that can maintain a charge with solar panels while at events, or can be charged
prior to night time events to provide over 50 hours of silent uninterrupted power to our equipment.
